7 Common Content Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

Content marketing is a very important method of getting the word out about your products and/or services. Content marketing is the best way to inform, educate and engage your audience while building authority in the eyes of your audience.

However, there are some common content marketing mistakes that you definitely want to avoid.

1. Avoid SEO

Search engine optimization involves on-page and off-page actions you can take to make sure search engines find your website, blog, or product. SEO uses certain techniques and tactics to help your audience find you. Don’t think it doesn’t matter. The more you implement these improvements, the better your results will be.

2. Not using automation wisely

Automation can be misused, but it should be used to help make anything possible. You are one person. A good rule of thumb is that you should personally respond and engage with people on social media and in your blog comments, but use automation for everything else.

3. Not promoting your content

When you create any type of content that you want people to find, you need to promote it through your social media and email. You can even promote it through pay per click ads. If you don’t promote your content, you’ll get much less positive results.

4. Forgetting to optimize your headlines

Some of search engine optimization involves headlines, but it deserves a special mention. There are a few ways to ensure your titles are optimized. First, put the keywords in the first three words. Second, try more than one headline to see which one gets the best response.

5. Create poor quality content

Your audience doesn’t want a ton of content under all circumstances. If you can’t create quality content every day, don’t do it. Create quality content at a time that works for you. If it is of high quality, answers questions and solves problems, it will be welcome.

6. Not posting enough

This can be counterintuitive, but you have to post enough to get noticed and keep your audience interested. Don’t get so bogged down in perfection that you neglect to create new content at least weekly.

7. Worry about quantity over quality

In the same way, you don’t want to post daily if the content doesn’t add value to your audience in some way. Simply having something, especially if it doesn’t match your niche, won’t get you the results you want.
