Arthur Grumiaux’s centenary: the love of art as an absolute
VSome performers sometimes prefer icy perfection to emotion. The sound result is almost always impeccable. However, you often have the impression that these sovereign virtuosos haven’t told you anything and that something is missing. For me, interpreting music is precisely making that something perceptible. These words are those of Arthur Grumiaux, virtuoso performer and great representative of the Franco-Belgian violin school, whose birth centenary is being celebrated on March 21.
