Double life of a US Army general: Sex is the watchword

Sex is a driving force and, according to the theories of Hegel and Kant, the driving force in a man’s life. Philosophers also identified power as another driving force, but added a rider that sex flowed from power. Sex and power is a heady cocktail and many succumb to it. It takes great acumen to balance the two and many failures on the altar of life.

A case of General David Haight has just surfaced, and if you go over the sordid details, it looks more and more like a tale of villages where everyone, including the United States Army, is a loser. First, who is General Douglas Haight? He is EURCOM’s senior officer in Europe and is responsible for operations in Iraq and Syria. It is an important and very sensitive appointment as well, since it includes operations of a secret nature. The general was a one-star general known in India as a major general and the appointment as a brigadier general is classified by the United States Army.

Checkered race

General Haight had a checkered career in the military and had an excellent record. He had served in the Rangers and Special Forces and had seen action in Afghanistan and Iraq. The whole story unfolded when the general was posted to Iraq almost 11 years ago.

His superiors held the general in high regard and there was a good chance that he would be promoted to a two or three or even four star general. The general also held a very sensitive appointment at EUROCOM, which is essentially part of the American military think tank to confront Russia, of which the West and Russia are mortally afraid. At the time he was a lieutenant colonel.

Love and sex

Haight at that point entered an email club with the opposite sex and an email caught her eye. He went on and met a lady named Jennifer Armstrong (38 at the time). The two hit it off at the meeting and struck up a relationship. Jennifer was a government servant and also fell completely in love with the general. The general entered into this relationship even though he was married and had 4 children. He promised the lady that he would live with her after he retired from the army.

The general began a relationship with Jennifer and it was a passionate adventure for a long time. He would use his official phone to speak to her and would also send her emails from his official computer thus compromising security.

The Russian intelligence that follows the emails and mobile conversations of senior American generals could not have ignored the general’s actions.

During a visit to the US, the General and Jennifer decided that their sexual relationship needed a boost, so they began signing up for sex exchange clubs and one-night stands at the clubs. Here, the duo picked up male and female partners and had swingers parties at home while sharing sexual partners. It was a sordid business, but the general and his girlfriend thought they were discreet and no one would know. THEY CONTINUED THEIR ESCAPES AND ONCE HE WAS AT THE WAR COLLEGE IN BALTIMORE, THEY ATTENDED EXCHANGE PARTIES AT a club located near the War College. The general was almost recognized in many places and some anonymous letters were sent to army headquarters and the Pentagon. The army became aware of these letters and initiated an internal investigation that was led by the Inspector General. The investigation revealed Haight’s affair with Jennifer. He also brought up swinger and swap parties and the Pentagon realized that General David Haight was a security risk. for their actions. But things could not be allowed to rest, as there had been a serious breach of security and the Army

for their actions. But things could not be left to rest as there had been a serious breach of security and the Army introduced a section of the act that speaks of “Acts harmful to order and discipline.” They weren’t sure David Haight hadn’t been blackmailed. In any event, it was a felony committed by a serving general in a high-level position, and there was no choice but to remove Haight from command.

Action

Haight was removed from EUROCOM leadership in May 2016, but the transfer was not publicized. He was sent back to the United States and a board of inquiry was formed to take action against him. The general was reprimanded and told that his military career was over. Thus, a man who could have been a two or three star general spoiled his notebook with a sexual relationship. The power of sex can be terrible. The army is now in shock.
