How do you prepare the next generation of leaders in America? Obviously, we need them, and since we’re busy pulling levers and turning gears in our education system to fine-tune it, maybe we should be thinking here too? Sure, math, science, reading, writing, physical education and creative thinking are paramount, but so are the skills learned to carry this great American torch to future games.
On top of that, a country is only as good as its education system was 20 years ago. Okay, so are we meeting the standard? Who will be our future leaders? Do they even know what they’re doing? Not long ago, I was discussing this with an acquaintance and he suggested that in order to do this, we would need a “tremendous recognition” program to go along with it, one that would be highly visible, including involving our current sports, academic, scientific, business and political leaders. .
Okay, this makes sense, however, a quick warning about this concept: As long as it’s not false praise, nothing causes more mistrust than excessive achievement receiving false praise. But I guess in a way what’s the old adage; “it’s amazing what people will do for a medal” and therein lies another problem, acknowledging success gives more credit to the group awarding the awards than the individual receiving the accolades, that’s why groups award them in the first place lift the group. .
So I ask; What is the name of this future leadership group? That is “to which group are we giving power too?” And why do we give it power? Does he deserve power or a loyal group of young followers? Starting a group of young leaders is fine, if done for the right reasons.
An acquaintance of mine suggested giving our logo attire, certificates, and other things that could perhaps be added to future resumes or college entrance commendation lists. I guess this reminds me of Boy’s State. Hey, doesn’t NASA camp in Alabama do this too? Yes that could work, I even wonder if Boeing, IBM, Intel, GE, Microsoft, Google, Walmart, Northrop, Ford, GM, AT&T, BofA, Raytheon, Wharton, Stanford, Sloan, Harvard, etc, etc. come on board, it would serve you well with a source of future leaders and get the kids interested in the future.
What about government leadership, leadership in the nonprofit sector as well? Future military leaders? All critical components of America’s future, and yes, it’s very important. In fact, I ask you to please consider all of this and think about it.
