If you want, you can now manage other banks with your Bank Austria account

On Monday, the last part of the EU Payment Services Directive (PSD2) came into force with the mandatory two-factor authentication (2FA) in Austria (the STANDARD reported). For online payments, users need a second authentication in addition to the password, such as a TAN. But the PSD2 regulates even more: For example, banks have been obliged since September 2019 to open their APIs to other providers. This should enable start-ups, for example, to develop financial apps into which users can import the account data of their house bank account. Bank Austria is now turning this tables on.
