On March 18, the health committee discussed an application from SPÖ animal welfare spokesman Dietmar Keck and colleagues, which provides for a ban on fully slatted floors with mandatory straw litter and so much more space for the pigs that they can all lie next to each other in the straw. At the time of the transitional government, the Greens were still in favor of this regulation. In order to draw attention to the upcoming decision, the VGT will carry out an action at Ballhausplatz in which pigs sit on toilets. The fully slatted floor is a life in the toilet, with all the consequences, such as a terrible stable climate, pneumonia and reddened eyes.
