When the laureates of this year’s Pritzker Prize were announced on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. Central European time, there was such a consensual post euphoria across the digital globe: “Well finally!”, “Fully deserved!”, “But it was high time!”. Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal, who run the architecture firm Lacaton & Vassal in Paris, have long been no strangers to building culture; in Vienna, too, they left their signature 20 years ago with the Corbaci restaurant in the Museum Quarter, their design approach to building and living is still radically unique.
