Ryanair carried 100 million fewer travelers in 2020
The entire aeronautics sector has suffered greatly from the measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Air traffic came to a virtual halt in the spring and, after improving slightly over the summer, was disrupted again from September due to the second wave of Covid-19 infections.
Ryanair, for example, recorded 1.9 million passengers in December, 83% less than during the same period in 2019.
The airline has also significantly reduced its offer for the winter, with only a fifth of the normal range. Aircraft occupancy rate averaged 73%.
