Six players and six Sporting Charleroi staff tested positive for Covid-19

Six players and six staff members tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.

Last week, it was Lukasz Teodorczyk who tested positive and had to withdraw from the match against Club Brugge. In the process, a new test was carried out the day after the draw against the Brugeois. Cédric Berthelin (goalkeeper coach), Kaveh Rezaei and Amine Benchaib then tested positive, as explained on the club’s official website.

Sporting then took the initiative to carry out an additional test on Monday and twelve club members are positive: Amine Benchaib, Saido Berahino, Joris Kayembe, Kaveh Rezaei, Lukasz Teodorczyk and Ognjen Vranjes among the players; Karim Belhocine, Frank Defays, Samba Diawara, Cédric Berthelin, David Dalmut and Damien Januel in the staff; Pierre-Yves Hendrickx within the management.

A new test is scheduled for Wednesday. Its result will show whether the match against Beerschot on Saturday will be maintained.

In the meantime, the thirteen people who tested positive have been placed in quarantine.
