VSContrary to Rock Werchter and Graspop in particular, Tomorrowland refuses for the moment to throw in the towel for an edition in 2021 and opts for a postponement to the end of August / beginning of September, announced Wednesday the organizers of the festival, which is held from ordinary during the second half of July.

Tomorrowland says it is basing its decision on advice from experts and authorities, as well as prospects for the vaccination strategy and test events. “We are very excited to embark on this adventure,” says Debby Wilmsen, spokesperson for the festival.

New dates already announced

The two weekends of the Tomorrowland festival, which were supposed to take place, as usual, at the end of July, will likely arrive too early this year due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, according to the organization. It now places its hopes in the end of the summer.

The new dates are August 27, 28 and 29 and September 3, 4 and 5. They have been discussed with the competent authorities, it is said, but official authorization is still pending.

If this authorization is granted, it will in any case be conditional given the uncertainty about the epidemiological situation. “We want to remain positive and hopeful about an unforgettable end of summer 2021, but we also realize that there is a risk that the 16th edition of Tomorrowland will not take place until 2022”, confides the spokesperson for the event.

Other solutions considered

The organization also remains open to the possibility of hosting a smaller-scale version this year if a mass festival is not possible. “We are now opting for a positive state of mind and starting from the best scenario: a Tomorrowland like other years. If that turns out to be impossible after all, we’ll take a look at what we can do. We really want to organize something. ”
