Tomorrowland is postponing the festival to the end of the summer

Tomorrowland will not take place in July, as is traditionally the case, but it will be in late August or early September. For the time being, the festival has not opted for cancellation, but for postponement.

The dance festival Tomorrowland, unlike Rock Werchter and Graspop, among others, refuses for the time being to throw the towel for an edition in 2021 and opts for a postponement to the end of August or the beginning of September. The festival organization announced this on Wednesday afternoon. Tomorrowland claims to be based on advice from experts and governments and the prospects of the vaccination strategy and test events.

The two festival weekends of Tomorrowland, which were planned as always at the end of July, are probably too early this year due to the corona pandemic, according to the organization. Tomorrowland is now hoping for the end of the summer. The new dates are August 27, 28 and 29 and September 3, 4 and 5. Those data have been discussed with the competent authorities, it sounds, but official permission is still awaiting.

Small-scale

If that permission is granted, it will in any case be conditional, given the uncertainty about the epidemiological situation. ‘We want to remain positive and hopeful about an unforgettable end to the summer of 2021, but also realize that there is a chance that the 16th edition of Tomorrowland will take place in 2022’, it sounds at Tomorrowland.

The festival organization is also keeping a close eye on possibly organizing a more small-scale event if a full-fledged mass festival would not be possible. ‘We now opt for a positive mindset and assume the best scenario: a Tomorrowland like other years,’ says spokeswoman Debby Wilmsen. ‘If that turns out not to be possible, we will see what we can do. We really want to organize something. ‘
