Is Your Home Infested With Roaches? They probably like the food you serve (and a bunch of other treats around your house that roaches eat, too). You wouldn’t be the first person in human history to have a group of cockroaches living with you. In fact, cockroaches have likely lived with humans since humans existed.
Roaches like warm, humid environments with plenty of food and water. They happen to be the same conditions as the average human home. So it’s no wonder they move in when they get the chance.
One element of an integrated cockroach eradication plan is cutting off the food supply, which begs the question …
What do cockroaches eat?
Here is a short list of some of the most common household items that a roach will eat.
- Cooking crumbs, grease, etc. – this is obvious
- Paper
- Human dandruff
- Glue: book bindings, paper shelf holders, etc.
- Other cockroaches: the weak can’t do it!
- Much much more …
Keeping a clean home is important. Your kitchen should never be left with dirty dishes or crumbs on the counter. Put your food in sealed bags and plastic containers. Make sure to regularly clean under the stove and in the refrigerator. Vacuum and dust frequently to control human and pet dust and dander. Have newspapers, boxes, and bags right away.
Roaches are really not picky eaters and it will be difficult to eliminate all possible food sources that exist in your home. And they can live for months without food (but only a short time without water!) Which is why having a built-in solution to eradicate the roach infestation and prevent them from returning is vital.
Roaches often enter your home on the clothing of people with infestations in their own homes, as well as in boxes and bags. Therefore, dispose of delivery boxes quickly and do not allow these items to accumulate in your home.
Eliminate access to your home, easy sources of food and water, and nesting sites and you are well on your way to permanently eradicating roach infestations from your home.
