The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest particle accelerator.
It lies 175 meters deep in parts below the French-Swiss border near Geneva in Switzerland and its tunnel has a circumference of 27 kilometers.
More than 10,000 scientists and engineers from more than 100 countries collaborated on this enormous engineering feat.
It was built with the aim of exploring many physical theories in the area of physics.
The Higgs boson is known to many as the God particle and is said to contain enough energy to propel us into a new age. In fact, the discovery of such a particle could create a new path in relation to the way we feed our everyday luxuries, such as our homes, cars, motorcycles, ovens, appliances, swimming pools, “if you are lucky enough to have one I could go on here.
So how close are we to discovering this exciting particle? Well, actually, after electrons colliding with each other at very high speeds, there were times when we were close, but not close enough right now.

This amazing piece of science and engineering has already made a huge impact in the world of science with breakthroughs like the location of the Higgs Bozon, who knows what else will be discovered in this groundbreaking area of science.
