Jean-Philippe Watteyne opens “the world’s first submachine gun restaurant”
“The machine gun is the most Belgian of all dishes”, explains the cook. “They are only found at home! The machine gun, for me, it really represents Belgian street food.”
The chef, who has his terroir at heart, therefore made a point of honoring this very home-grown dish in different forms. “There is a different bread and a different meat for each machine gun,” he continues. In his restaurant, Jean-Phi offers 5 types of machine guns: fish, poultry, meatballs, pork cheek or even … a mix with tartiflette.
To be able to taste his creations, however, it will be necessary to be quick: the restaurant opened on December 7 but will already close its doors on December 20. But, that the amateurs of submachine guns rest assured: Jean-Phi will settle permanently in January.
How to order?
Just go to the restaurant’s website. You can pick up the order at rue des Fripiers 22B 7000 Mons. Measures against the coronavirus oblige, the restaurant obviously only offers take-away meals.
