Read my top 10 favorite restaurants on the island of Lanzarote and feel free to go and try them for yourself!
Almacen De Sal – Located right on the boardwalk in the center of Playa Blanca, this restaurant is my favorite. This restaurant used to be an old salt deposit so it has a lot of character and charm. The service is second to none as is the cuisine. There is an extensive menu to choose from and I have many favorites on the menu including onion soup, avocado with prawns, steaks, fish, paella to name but a few! This restaurant also has live piano music and is very kid friendly but also romantic.
Burnt Beach Restaurant – Burnt Beach. We would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are prepared to go a bit off the beaten path! From Playa Blanca it is just after Yaiza and there is a detour to the right that takes you to Playa Quemada. Don’t wear your high heels as the parking lot leaves a bit to be desired! This restaurant serves fabulous food and there is always excellent fresh fish available. Reservations are definitely recommended.
Mirador de Lobos – Playa Blanca, next to the entrance of the Hotel Natura Palace. This restaurant is one of our family’s favorites as it is definitely kid friendly and has an extensive menu. The fresh fish and daily specials are well worth trying.
Don Camillo – Playa Blanca, on the promenade towards the port. Don Camillo offers excellent international cuisine with an extensive menu. There are three different kitchens, including a steak grill and pizzeria. The T-bone steak is wonderful, but don’t order it unless you haven’t eaten in a while.
La Era – Yaiza, behind the Town Hall. This restaurant is open all week from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and reservations are recommended. La Era is located in the charming little town of Yaiza, housed in a 300-year-old country house with gardens, patios and outbuildings restored by César Manrique into a fascinating and beautiful place to eat and drink. La Era serves authentic Canarian cuisine, as well as international dishes.
La Bocaina – next to the Playa Blanca gas station, to the right, in the direction of Playa Blanca. This restaurant has been around for 40 years, although it is now under new ownership. The soups and sauces are homemade and are prepared at the moment. Therefore, do not come to this restaurant if you are in a hurry! First class cuisine and this restaurant is closed on Mondays.
Case Pedro Terrace Restaurant – Playa Blanca. I would recommend it as an excellent fish restaurant on the seafront in Playa Blanca. Walk to the boardwalk and when you reach the small beach in front of the restaurants, turn right. You go to the green restaurant on the corner. Keep walking until you see the restaurant called Restaurante Terraza Casa Pedro. Be careful, there is a restaurant next door that is also called Restaurante Pedro. Make sure you go to the first Pedro restaurant. We highly recommend that you order the ‘fresh fish of the day’ served with Canarian potatoes and sauce. This is a lovely restaurant in the evening, but it’s also great at lunchtime as you can sit by the sea in the alfresco eating area. This restaurant is normally closed on Thursdays.
The Still Life Of The Hand – Playa Blanca. This is an excellent restaurant for steak. This is a small restaurant run by Chef Jesús Martínex Lebrusán and it is excellent. The chef himself cooks and is also the waiter: he has an assistant who helps in the kitchen. It offers a very limited but exclusive menu and we highly recommend the T-bone steak in pepper sauce, mushroom sauce or chestnut sauce. This is a quiet restaurant, probably not suitable for very young children and is normally closed on Mondays. It is located in the pedestrian shopping area behind the promenade. Pass the Marcial Supermarcado and you will see the restaurant on the right hand side, not directly after Marcial Supermarcado, but on the right. It is located below the Romantic Restaurant. It is recommended to book this restaurant before you go as it can get very busy.
LagOmar – Oasis of Nazareth – at the top of the town, off the road between Tahiche and Teguise. If you want to dine in dramatic surroundings, LagOmar is hard to beat, as this restaurant, serving modern international fare, used to be part of former movie star Omar Sharif’s home, built into the side of a disused quarry by two German architects in the style of César Manrique.
The menu never seems to change that much, but the location itself makes up for it and the quality of the cuisine is excellent.
Amura: The furthest end of the marina in Puerto Calero, which is a ten minute taxi ride from Puerto del Carmen. Amura enjoys an excellent beachfront location in the Puerto Calero marina, offering top-quality international cuisine in luxurious surroundings. Like many other top restaurants, Amura has a New Year’s Eve spectacular planned, complete with fireworks, open bar, and live music and dancing. Excellent for a special occasion.
I still have plenty of restaurants to try in Lanzarote but as I own a villa in Playa Blanca I will be in a position to try more as time goes on and then pass on my comments to future guests of my Villa.
