As you get older, you gain weight. At least many of us do. It is the result of not being so young anymore. That and the growing beer belly of the boys. As we get older, we tend to become less active. At least that is the case for a large sample of the population. So how do you determine if you really are overweight? You go to the doctors for a checkup. The nurse puts him on the scale and checks her weight and height. So they tell you that for your height, you are overweight. That was a while ago. Now this is done using the percentage of fat that you carry on your body every day. If by using the formula you are considered to be overweight, then you will need to take some action. Being overweight can lead to many health problems.
Once it is determined that you are indeed overweight, how do you go about losing this excess weight?
The answer you hear all the time will never change. Eat right and exercise. That is much easier said than done. We all get into our little comfort zones of what we like to eat. We know what to buy, how to make it, and how long it takes to cook. Changing what we do is a pain in the knowledge of what. You may want to reconsider making a change realizing that it may not last much longer if you don’t. Exercise can be as simple as walking to and from work. Go to the local high school track to walk. Dance when you go out at night. Get off your ass, put down the beer, and dance with your spouse, girlfriend, or some other pretty face out there.
Eat well. Avoid fast food places. Avoid eating all things fried. If you love French fries as much as I do, bake them. This will get rid of all the bad stuff in the oil they are usually fried in. Eat more fruits and vegetables. The more color they have in them, the better they are for you. The color in them is the way they protect themselves from the sun. This is transferred to you by eating them. They will help boost your body’s disease-fighting functions.
If you’re determined to lose weight, don’t get sucked into dieting. Diets are nothing more than a temporary solution to a weight problem. They lack a lot of nutrients for your body. So when you go off the diet, your body immediately begins storing as much as it can for future use. This is because you’ve trained yourself by dieting to know that you may not get another chance to absorb what you’re eating now. The result is that you regain all the lost weight.
Weight loss supplements can be extremely dangerous. Some of them are actually worm eggs. You take the pill, the worms hatch. The worms then eat the nutrients you eat. This makes you lose weight. It also removes vital nutrients that your body needs. Caffeine pills will increase your heart rate. This causes your metabolism to speed up. You will burn more calories without exercising. The problem is that you are putting a lot of stress on your heart by doing this. You want to keep your heart healthy throughout your life.
For people who have a severe weight problem there are alternatives. One of them is to put a band around your stomach to make it smaller. You will eat less. It is safe? They say it is. I’d rather no one put a rubber band around my stomach. The more natural I can keep my body, the longer it will last.
