Matthew 12:43 amp.
43 But when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, it wanders through dry places [arid places] looking for rest, but can’t find it.
The writer Matthew expresses how unclean spirits come out of man. He doesn’t mention if they were kicked out or just left alone for transfer purposes. When they left, they wandered around for a while. Where did they wander? Dry, arid, waterless or (lifeless) places, that’s where.
What are dry places?
The Dictionary/Thesaurus defines dry as waterless, devoid, deficient in moisture, arid, barren, and unadorned.
Because these two reference verses and definitions were not clear to me, I asked the Lord to give me understanding. Often hearing other believers bind, cast out demons, and send them to the dry places, he would ask me, “What are these places?”
He began to teach me that Dry Places are temporary abodes of demonic spirits. A dry place is any temporary, lifeless (non-breathing), lifeless, molecular instrument, object, or substance through which demons can travel to reach a permanent host body.
A solid, liquid or gas can be a dry place. Water is wet in the natural sense but a Dry Place in the spiritual sense because it falls under the above description. See Leviticus 11:36, 38 about the water becoming impure.
There is also paper, cloth, wood, metal, cement, plastic, food, and more. Leviticus 11:31-32
These you shall consider unclean of all creeping things; whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening. 32 Whatever they drop when they die, whether it be a wooden object, a piece of clothing, a skin (bottle), or a sack,
These are vehicles that Satan and his devils use to get to a host body, human or animal. It does not matter if it is a religious article with marks or symbols. Nor if it is a pair of white or blue socks thrown in the back of the closet. The enemy doesn’t care, he just needs a vehicle to get to a body!
Let’s take a look at some of these dry places.
Paper, books, money.
People handle money, including people who are contaminated with spiritual problems. Through these items, the spirits circulate throughout the world.
Old fabrics, sheets, blankets, curtains, shoes and used clothing **See Leviticus 15 verses 5-8.
From my early years as a Christian, the Lord was busy with me taking different people’s clothes off. Being a victim of poverty we were very limited with funds to buy new clothes. Family, friends, and church members donated much of what they owned. The old apartment was constantly flooded with bags of used clothes and shoes. Not to appear ungrateful, some of these items were like new, as well as being very pretty. In addition to the clothes and the mess, the spirits that the former owners fought with arrived. God told me to “throw them away!”
Why? Spiritual depression had entered my home through clothing along with suicide, poverty, fear, confusion, etc. Satan for many years had used this as a channel to contaminate my home.
Spirits love to cling to clutter, especially clothing, due to the ability to hide there. Note that washing clothes will not only remove the spirits, they need to be blessed and prayed for.
(a plus point)
The Spirit of God or the anointing can penetrate and damage clothing, aprons, handkerchiefs, healing oil and cast out demons.
Acts 19:11-12 KJV
And God worked special miracles by the hand of Paul: 12 So that from his body handkerchiefs or aprons were brought to the sick, and diseases came out of them, and evil spirits came out of them.
Wood, plaster, cement,
Piece of furniture
The spirits are emitted through furniture, sofas, tables, chairs, desks.
Mattresses **See Leviticus 15 verses 5-8
Imagine a used or refurbished old mattress brought in from a thrift store. If the original owners suffered for many years with lustful spirits, depression, etc. You can imagine what the new owners might experience. Let the purchase be careful!
Canes, rods and canes
Exodus 7:11-12 KJV
11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and sorcerers; Now the magicians of Egypt also did the same with their enchantments. 12 because each one of them threw down his rod, and they became serpents; but Aaron’s rod swallowed their rods.
This may seem extreme, but it provides a biblical demonstration of how spirits can be transferred to objects.
